KV2 Audio » Adora Magic City: Uncompromised Audio at Sea
Traditional line-array systems often take up too much valuable real estate and suffer from acoustic reflections in confined marine environments. This is where KV2 Audio’s Point Source technology truly excels. By delivering unmatched clarity, immense dynamic range, and enormous coverage from a significantly smaller physical footprint, KV2 allows cruise operators to provide their passengers with a premium audio experience without sacrificing valuable venue space.
Embarking on its inaugural commercial voyage on January 1st, 2024, the Adora Magic City represents a historic milestone as the very first Vista-class cruise ship constructed entirely in China. This majestic vessel, measuring 323.6 meters in length with a gross tonnage of 135,500 GT, can accommodate up to 5,246 passengers. The ship's concept expertly blends traditional Eastern hospitality with a modern Western lifestyle, offering a truly immersive experience. To ensure that the entertainment across its diverse and complex venues meets absolute world-class standards, the ship is exclusively equipped with KV2 Audio performance loudspeaker systems.
The crown jewel of the ship’s entertainment offering is the 1000-seat Metropol Theatre, built to accommodate three large-scale production shows, cabaret performances, conferences, and movie screenings. The main system consists of a powerful left and right configuration of four KV2 SL412 wide-dispersion loudspeakers, paired with four SL215 subwoofers flown beside the proscenium. Ground-shaking low frequencies and vocal clarity for the front rows are provided by an array of EX1.8 subwoofers and EX6 loudspeakers mounted into the stage front. To ensure perfectly even coverage throughout the massive auditorium, additional EX6 loudspeakers are deployed as balcony delays, while ultra-compact ESD Cubes serve as under-balcony fills.
Transforming seamlessly from a 300-seat dinner theatre in the evening to a pulsating nightclub late at night, The Star Club requires an incredibly versatile system. KV2 effortlessly caters to both uses with a main system of EX10 loudspeakers (Left/Right), an EX26 centre cluster, and EX1.15 subwoofers for rich, low-frequency reproduction. Distributed ESD Cubes act as delay loudspeakers for the sides and rear of the seating area, maintaining clarity and energy without overpowering the room.
The ship’s central hub, the Atrium Plaza, is alive with activity all day, hosting everything from Chinese folk music and art demonstrations to fashion shows and DJ sets. The space relies on EX26 loudspeakers combined with EX2.2 and EX1.5 subwoofers for flawless sound playback and reinforcement, while discreet ESD Cubes handle distributed fills and background music requirements.
Up on the deck, the main swimming pool area features a retractable roof and a large stage for daytime and evening live performances. The main system is housed in two towers left and right of the stage, comprising KV2 ES1.0 and ES1.5 loudspeakers with ES2.6 subwoofers mounted as a centre array under the stage. A distributed network of ESD5 and ESD6 loudspeakers acts as delay fills, cutting through the challenging acoustic environment of an enclosed pool deck.
Across the ship, live music and background ambiance are handled with pristine detail. The Beer Garden utilizes a stereo pair of EX10 loudspeakers, an EX26 centre, and EX1.8 subwoofers with ESD Cube delays. Meanwhile, the Brewery stage boasts EX12 loudspeakers and EX1.8 subwoofers. KV2’s crystal-clear sound also extends to the ship's aerobics and gymnasium spaces, as well as the Children’s and Teens’ activity centres.
