Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance is London’s International Drama School and also one of the UK’s top specialist higher education institutions delivering education in single subject – Theatre Training.
The College runs an annual Symposium designed to further expand the knowledge and skill sets of its students and KV2 Audio were delighted to be involved with this years “Offstage, Onstage and Beyond” event.
One of the College’s key aims is to expose their students to wide range of ideas and concepts relating to the various courses offered.
KV2 Audio’s involvement in the weeklong Symposium began with a seminar to students from the BA (Hons) Performance Sound (Live Design and Engineering) course, members of the in-house technical team as well as a selection of people with a general interest in high quality audio systems.
The 300 seat Rose Theatre hosted the seminar beginning with a presentation outlining George Krampera – KV2 Audio’s Founder and Chief of Engineering – and KV2’s histories and the companies key philosophies. This was followed by an in-depth demonstration of a wide selection of EX, ESD and ESM products.
The College’s desire for students to be exposed to a wide range of concepts provided the ideal platform to finish by listening to one of KV2’s legendary Point Source ES Systems and discuss the advantages of Point Source vs Line Array systems, and the growing fashion for “Mini Line-Array”.
It was pleasing to see the students remaining open minded to KV2’s approach, especially the concept that “the latest technology does not always mean the best technology”.
It was also pleasing that, even after over-running the two and a half hour workshop, students had to be asked to leave to allow set-up for the rest of the days events – during which KV2 Audio products remained involved.
A selection of Theatre productions took place throughout the afternoon as well as a special guest Cabaret and Comedy performance by Julian Clarey and Ian Shaw, a live set from function band Festival Foxes and closing DJ slots as students celebrated the end of the week’s events.
The ES System remained as the main FOH PA with EX speakers covering the balconies and ESM 12’s handling monitoring duties.
KV2 are delighted to be in discussions with Rose Bruford College about further collaborations.
